Biscuitville announces Burlington employee team wins annual Biscuit Bake-Off
Greensboro, N.C. (June 12, 2024) – Biscuitville Fresh Southern® is pleased to share the winners of its 2024 Biscuit Bake-Off Competition. Team Members Anareli Valdez Hernandez and Brenda Hortencia Martinez from the 2619 Alamance Road restaurant in Burlington, N.C. showcased their biscuit-making skills to take home the grand prize – $2,000 each!
Biscuitville’s annual Biscuit Bake-Off features multiple rounds of competition between employee biscuit makers from Biscuitville’s 80 restaurants in North Carolina, South Carolina and Virginia. The bake-off competition starts in the spring, beginning at the biscuit makers’ home restaurants and concluding with the final two crew members and final two managers competing against one another in the championship round in May. Biscuitville announced the winners at the company’s annual employee celebration held June 11.
“Without excellent-quality biscuits served fast and fresh to our guests, we couldn’t call ourselves Biscuitville,” said Kim Avery, Biscuitville’s Vice President of Operations. “Our annual Biscuit bake-off is an opportunity for our best bakers to engage in a friendly competition that showcases their skills and the pride they take in their craft.”
The Burlington winners competed against Ryna Williams and Kathy Rusch from the 771 Enterprise Drive Biscuitville restaurant in Clayton, N.C.
Throughout the competition rounds, judges evaluated the technique and speed of the biscuit makers, as well the size, color and taste of the final product to see which team members best demonstrated they had mastered the skillful craft of biscuit-making.
In addition to winners taking home a $2,000 grand prizes, runners-up received $500 each.
